Mount Sill

August 25, 2000

The weekend of August 26th found the Fourteener Hogs celebrating Gene's 70th birthday in the Sierras. Mount Sill, 14,162 feet, was the goal. The weather prevented us from reaching the summit, but not from enjoying the time together in God's spectacular creation. I will add more images and the whole story as time permits.

Early AM weather over the Palisade Ridge

Looking across Palisade Glacier,
from the left are Sill, Polemonium, North Palisade
just above the right end of the horizontal snow field,
Starlight Peak in the clouds, and Thunderbolt Peak,
the high point to the right of the gap.
Mount Sill is a lot closer to the camera and looks
higher but all five peaks are over 14,000 feet.
