Ponca City, Oklahoma

In 1932 at the age of 14 my wife's father, Delmont S. Ziegler, took his first
job away from home as a Fireman for the Ponca City Fire Department.

New Book
Yesterday's Fire is a collection of short stories written by Delmont. The stories tell of how a 14 year old farm boy ended up working as a fireman on the Ponca City Fire Department. You'll not only read about his experiences of fighting fire, but also about the "fire of life" that burned within his heart as a young man. Throughout the book you'll find pictures of the men of the department and their fire trucks. You'll also find related items copied from the scrapbook of Chief George K. Brown, his uncle. Though this book is by no means a complete history of fighting fire in the '30s, you will get a small overview of a young fireman's life growing up in Oklahoma. Enjoy!
